About The Rink
The type of rink that we use is an aluminium mat rink, with the aluminium mat we can make ice regardless of the ambient outdoor temperature, these rinks are also incredibly energy efficient with less energy wasted, this is a great rink for open air events.
How we make ice
- Install sub-base to provide a perfect solid level platform for the real ice rink.
- Install the tank and white membrane to ensure a watertight seal.
- Then we install the aluminium pipework, Stainless Steel header pipes and connect to the chiller machines.
- Once connected and tested the pipes are filled with non-toxic Glycol and the freezing machines (chillers) are switched on and chilled to -12
- We then install the barriers and begin spraying the ice rink with water,
- To ensure we achieve the best ice quality we freeze the ice rink in layers until the ice levels reach 100mm thick, this normally takes 12-24 hours and the rink can be opened.
